PB 10LB 2oz 13/6/16

[Cod Commando]

Been a while since I reported a decent catch so here is my PB caught after the Cleadon Club summer match. Billy Lee had a cod earlier for 7lb 4oz and also a Ling for 4lb 6oz from the same mark. So just on top water using peeler my Zziplex TRC gave a huge lunge forward and stayed down (my only knock of the night). Reeling in was tough but the Penn Spinfisher is a sturdy reel and I knew this was a decent fish as the Cod did not surface until it was vertical in line with my rod tip, slowly it was surfacing and it also nodded all the way in. So when it did arrive at the surface there was no way of reeling this up, so I had to handball it up as usual. It has been a long time coming but more than happy with the result. Just goes to show you don't have to pop over to Norway to land a decent fish when Cod are on our back door. Well done to Billy on his catch. Summer fishing has definitely got its benefits. :thumbup:

Will be hard to top those mate, looking forward to getting out on the Shady during the six weeks hols and having a crack at beating them though. Still Buzzing over this fish Keith, also forgot to add I released it, as it went back it stayed on the water for about 5 seconds then kicked straight back down. A strong fighting fish. :thumbup:
