good catch lad ,you pay for your bait you pay for your tackle you have a great catch they all go to use welldone
 
Smiled to myself when I first saw this thread because I knew exactly where it would go lol. Well done to the lad if he can be bothered to carry them home and then clean them and use them - thats HIS choice!!!! Catching them would have been the easy part, so good on you.
Knew as soon as he posted that there would be 'outrage' from some lads, especially the ones who only keep 'deep hooked fish'. Like to see 'wheres the fish' keep all those alive in a bucket and weigh them in in a comp haha, anyway each to there own eh!!!

had he paid to go out on a boat and took home 2 boxes of fish, nothing would have been said.

because its from the shore theres outrage.

if the fish were put to good use, then theres absolutely no reason why he shouldnt take his catch home.

ther is no waste i garantee u my grandad is 84 years old he has eat fish all my life my friends have boats they get him crabs lobsters cod ling ect he eats the lot.. they call him the seal. and all the whitys i took home were all as big as m8s boot or over . all get poched or made into fish cakes he buys me my rods reels ect ok i got a few but fish are fish and agin not 1 fish i take home gets wasted.:D
 
can't see where the problem is. i've had prolific sessions like that and kept every one of them, everyone of them got used. had other sessions when i've only kept the ones that were obviously not going to survive if i didn't have a use for the surplus catch. theres usually neighbours and OAPS who are more than happy to take some off my hands.

get them in mate few more sessions like that and we might get passed them for the cod
 
I'm big on conservation and when it comes to cod I will only take 1 or 2 away unless fishing a comp. If I was in a comp I would take them all as evey ounce could matter but I wouldn't do so if I knew they wouldnt get eaten. In my club comp I know one of the guys loves whiting and will eat 3 just for his breakfast so I have no qualms. As long as they are sized that is. Whiteys seem to be as prolific as mackerel at times and many people have taken this many. Should keep the old man going for a good few weeks that lot. Mind you if you have more sessions like that I'd think twice before putting many more reports on like that though lol
 
well done mate,must have kept you very busy!!!! you take what you want,there a nice size ive seen people keep ones less than half that size!!;)
 
Think evry 1 shud lay off the lad good catch m8 ther like rats of the sea taking that many is not going to make 1 bit of difrence to
fish stocks at all he pays for his bate so can take wat he wants :d
 
Personally, i could'nt be bothered to fillet that many fish. Plus, whiting are nothing more than, worm infested, bait pinching, dirty rats of the sea. If you read the club results, they are being won with big bags of 20-30 whiting but nothing is said to them lads because it a competition. If the lad wants to keep that many fish and they dont go to waste, then good on him.

i am with Roppa on this, as has been said, it would be a different story if they were just getting thrown away, but they are actually being eaten, so whats the harm, thats just like saying if you caught a 20lb + cod you would keep it, most people would say return it, to each his own i say

no need to fillett them, block them or just take heads off and guts out, very thin skin and tasty meat.
Only thing that bothers me is that not onl;y anglers look at these forums, those that wish to get our sport stopped also do, sad when reporting on what could be the catch of a lifetime, the snoppers could use it against us.

cracking bag mate but i just couldn't be bothered to sort that lot out. In fact I wouldn't bother keeping 1 ting.
 
Sorry for what was said mate :) Well done, tbh ive never caught that many whiting in a single session and atleast none were wasted :) Dunno what i was thinking tbh :)
