Northumberland bass hunt

Everybody seemed to be doing something else today so I headed up the coast on my lonesome looking for bass. I got set up at low water with two lads fishing a bit further down the beach but they left soon after so I was left on my own with the dog walkers.
I fished with two rods, my UL belted out and the bass rod in the breakers. Tried loads of different baits but nothing seemed to be tempting the fish, so with high tide approaching I decided to at least get some flatties so put on chunks of mackerel strip. Soon after the bass rod went mental and I thought I had a decent bass on until the fish jumped and I realised it was a sea trout. After a great fight and a couple of heart stopping moments when it caught in the breakers I landed it. That is the first time a fish has jumped when I have hooked it, wish I could have videoed it, smashing sight :D. Quick photo and then back in, it took off like a torpedo. A poor day made into a good one with one good fish, how many times does that happen lol.

good result, ive just come back in from a walk there but right up near where the river comes in at sandy bay, nice breakers rolling in,it looked good for a bass, sea trout just as good though

Class mark! Well done, even better than a bass. My trout hunting in the Yorkshire dales didn't go well, rained all weekend so didn't even go fishing.

nice fish, sea trout give great fights, I mainly fish for them at night on the fly on a 'club' water in co Durham but once caught one inner tyne on worm, bet that fish made your day, good to see well done
