new to fishing and need a little help :)

hi all this is my fist post so may not be in the right place.... any how im fairly new to fishing only started going in the summer and bought a sonic sks beach caster, it seemed fine over the summer but now when its getting windy the rod is blowing all over the place and being new to fishing its hard to know if its a bite or just the sea taking the rod for a dance. when im fishing i see every one else's rods are really still and calm even in bad wind so ive been looking at buying a new rod (dont have a budget as i hope to keep the rod for years). ive heard that grays apollo rods are pritty good, so ive been online looking for one and ive came across a few different ones and would like to know the difference in them and what ones you would suggest i go for. they are:
Gray's Apollo Extreme Beach Caster
Gray's Apollo Distance Beach Caster
Gray's Apollo Match Rod
I would like a rod that is pritty stiff when its windy also just a really good all around rod i dont fancy buying loads of different rods when i dont know the difference in them all haha. i use a multiplier if that makes a difference? also i fish mostly at south shields pier and i think (not too sure on this one) that its better to cast out pritty far to avoid getting snagged on what seems to be a endless amount of rocks near the pier.

Mate not going to knock Greys rods but take a look at a century rods something along the lines of a tip tornado sport or kompressor s or ss.

i was looking at tip tornados but some one told me that the apollos were stiffer rods like i said im new to fishing and have no idea what i should be looking for haha

Hi an excaliber tt or eliminator e1000 are stiff rods probably stiffer than anything in the greys range but I wouldn't recomend them to anyone just starting out fishing as to be honest even lads who've been fishing for years would have trouble putting a bend in them.

Agree with that... Ikon is a lot of rod for the money!!

Agree with Mick those 3 would be my first choice the kompressor ss being the more powerful but the kompressor s is lovely to cast with a slightly softer butt, but still a powerful tip and the tornado sport reminds me of a low profile wr300 rated to 8oz.

Zziplex are a mine field second hand loads a dodgey un-ground black tips put together with ground green butts? and if you buy a new Zippy because you like the cast of your mate's your new one will be nowt like your mate they are all different I bought mine new and sold them onto field casters who loved them.

Lastly but certainly not least phils on the money with taking a look at the new Leeda icon power and ultra power these rods are great value for money expect to pay around the £130. Won't say they are in the same league as the higher end century or zziplex but they will do the job well.

Agree with Enduro. I've recently started up again after 20 years or so away and after a couple of mistake buys bought the Century Kompressor SS. Not too heavy, stable in the wind, still has decent bite detection and casts like a dream. Love it.

It is a heavy ground rod but I now fish mainly rock and beach in Northumberland. There's others now much more about rods on here but if you're fishing lighter ground then maybe the Kompressor S.

Good advice above,don't bother with the new grey's,there not built to the std that they were yrs ago,made from cheaper materialsbetter rods available imo,zzippies/century's,afaw to name a few,allways the second hand option
Tbh them leeda's mentioned,you can't beat e'm for the money...
