Fancied a session at clachy this morning looking for an eel and to christen my new rod a shakey salt xt flattie
Took 3 rods all at different distances and different baits

It was lashing down but I was nice n dry sitting in the boot with the hatch up
1st cast and a cracking rattle on the new rod which resulted in a 32cm flounder and a nice start
Ps free fixed spool reel off mr Alan Heeley cheers mate

The other 2 rods must of been broke as not even a touch in 3 hrs
2nd cast and another flounder slightly larger on the flattie rod
3rd cast and a massive rattle the rod tip was going berserk didn't need to strike in came my pb flounder of 43cm and a small coley on my flapper rig put up a canny scrap

Wish I had some digi scales as it must of been close to 2lb thick and long
Makki , sand eel , bluey and rag not touched
Fresh peeler crab done the damage
Hope I catch that fish again on Sunday in the charity flounder match for little Derek
Ps if you read this mr Alan Heeley cheers for the fixed spool reel and the peelers they done the damage today

Great stuff Mick, christened the rod with a pb fish.
Psssst....If you want an eel get yourself down to Hebburn Marina, I've just been there for one, wasn't out of the house half an hour! Good job in this weather.

Well done mate nice flounder by anychance is your flounder spent? I had 1 out at 45cm and was spent weighed in at 1lb 10z, just to give u an idea mate

nice one toonboy, claxheau was the first place we started fishing maybe around 11, 12 year old we only used to catch eels bigunsaswell and all we ever used was garden worms on small hooks, mostly in dark as we used to fish all night,on the morning first light we used to go dig ragworm in the sleck and when we used to bait up with that we only caught the flatties,so try some garden worms on one of your rods you never know :)atb plum
