Well me and Phil travelled up for a day trip on Friday. We set off at 4am and arrived in Stranraer at 7am, finally getting to the Mull about half an hour later. We walked around the lighthouse and checked out a few marks but it was a bit too windy.

Due to the wind we drove to the west side of the Island to Port Logan so that the cliffs would give us shelter, we fished here from about 9am. We tried 3 different methods, spinning, float and bait fishing. In the end it was me who got a fish on the float using ragworm at around 11am. A nice 3lb Pollack.

The tide was quickly going out and water water was getting too shallow to fish without snagging up constantly so we moved on to Kirkcudbright to try for some Dogfish. We never managed to catch one but there was an excellent beach for digging worms which we had a go at and got some great lug. We left at 8pm and got home for 11pm, all in all an enjoyable days fishing with some superb scenery.

Nice fish mate...was it a good scrap? :)

It has to be the hardest scrap I've had in the 9 months I've been sea angling, it was diving into the kelp and I thought I was snagged at least twice. Luckily my float was only 20m out, just above the kelp beds so I didn't have far to reel in but it was still hard work. There was no chance of the fish coming off though since it had swallowed the hook completely.

tony how many people are going next month mate you should start a thread to see whos after going up and set the dates and leaving times and also meeting places for cars
