Marine Conservation Zones announced

This is the first wave to be announced, we have 3 but the Aln Estuary (Lesbury to Alnmouth) is the only coastal MCZ announced. Out of the 127 sites put forward only 27 have been announced today. No Couquet to St Marys yet!

Thanks for that Les. An interesting opening paragraph by Joan Edwards:

“We welcome today’s designation of 27 Marine Conservation Zones. This is the first active step in what we believe to be the most important action Government can take to address the shocking state of nature at sea".

Not sure how factual the last bit is or what it's measured against, but they then go on to announce how abundant and diversified our seas are. I also notice the Coquet to St Marys MCZ is on hold but the Wildlife Trust look clearly intent on taking it further.
