"FAMOUS"
Saturday 23rd May.

I had the privilege of a full weekends fishing, and as being newly promoted to crew, I was on board "Famous" on Saturday and a more relaxed day fishing on board "Ali-Cat" on the Sunday.
We left the Marina prompt 7am with a full boat.
The Anglers on board on Saturday had travelled from as far as London and Manchester, So both Fred (Skipper) and I, were hoping we would gave them a decent days fishing.
We explained we would be out till at least 4:30pm due to the depth of water needed to get back into the Marina.
Smiling faces all round.
I thoroughly enjoyed my day looking after the beginners, making up traces, sorting tangles, cleaning fish etc and also listening to the more experienced anglers among the group.
Anyway, when I could I did a little fishing and by the end of the day I had taken 12 fish kept 6 and gave the rest away to some of the lads whom were hit by the dreaded Mal-de- Mer, something I wouldn't wish on any fellow angler.
Fishing continued to be excellent yet again, Fred trying the remains of a wreck for our first spot and we stayed on and around this mark for well over 3 hours, it just kept producing fish.
Biggest of the day probably went about 6lb, but loads in the 3-4lb range which pleased the party.
Well over 100 fish today including a few Mackerel of good size and a 30 minute session when some really nice Coalfish hit the wreck.
So with everybody on board taking fish home we set off back home at a leisurely pace.
Once berthed, and tied up, out came the sponges, brushes and hose, bringing "Famous" back to her gleaming self.
Try as you do to wash off blood and guts as you go at sea, some you miss and its sometimes a Bugga to get off when dried.
Didn't manage many photos today, but got this one of our eight-legged friend.

ALI-CAT
Sunday 24th May

So off again down the A19, I tootled, accompanied by some nice rain, but no dreaded wind.
Arriving in Hartlepool, the rain had stopped and it had become overcast, my type of weather.
Dave had just brought "Ali-Cat" onto the pontoon, so early as I always am, we had a chit-chat, about where to go today and discussed yesterdays fishing.
Once our party had boarded, off we went in search of our quarry.
We past "Famous" at 12 mile out, who had departed very early this morning as the lads that had booked the weekend and travelled, wanted a early start home.
Fred radioed they had been doing well.
So onto our first mark, and again my tried and trusted Sidewinder eel went down and came back with my first lovely clean fish of the day (codling) 3-4lb, which was swiftly returned as is my custom.
Fish started coming up all over the boat with us spending time on the drift, another good day ahead expected.
The weather played ball throughout the day, a mixture of brilliant sunshine and some cloud cover, but a uninvited wind made the fishing a little difficult when against the drift, it did however, disappear and normal conditions returned.
It was really another day of fish just about every drift for someone or more on the boat, The photo below shows a excellent catch for Stevie.

Stevie continued to add to his total after this was taken.

Cracking catch Stevie mate, your Nan will be well pleased. Well done, you fished well.

Again, all anglers on the boat took fish home, and the stranger today was Wolf/Catfish, while not massive, it was a decent fish and the proud angler would certainly have enjoyed eating it. ( sorry no photo)

I fished my normal shad/eel and kept a 12 fish bag, and with a better stamp of fish showing, easily pushing 8lbs, I returned many fish and gave away a lot to the other lads.

An enjoyable day yet again with Dave Lumley, Great Skipper , works to find the fish, keeps the lads happy, Thanks Again Mr Lumley.

Filleting time for one of the lads.

Great banter among the lads aboard, even when NUFC were in danger of relegation.....

Off we went steaming home.
