me and wayne had planned a seshion up at st abbs for very early on tuesday morning, but with reports coming back as to there being nowt happening we had to come up with something else
so off to the shop yesterday morning and 50 crab were swiftly secured.so with bait burning a hole in me bucket we were off.
after reading a few reports over the last week or so i wasnt to optomistic with a northerly breeze seeming to have put the fish off,but at least we were out the house and looking forward to catching anything really.
we travalled thru some fantastic weather on our way , but on arriving at the chosen spot it was misty as hell with a slight breeze just giving the water a bit of a chop and plenty of colour.
wayne had decided to bring the two man tent to make himself comfy,so he got started on base camp while i got me gear ready.
it was low water when we started fishing with the tide just starting to flood, and to be honest things were very slow for the first three hours with only the one tommy to me
i was starting to think that it might not be our night, but as the water got up a bit more we started to get regular knocks, and some of these were pulling the rods rite over very quickly, after a few missed bites by us both i was the first to hook up with my first bass of the year
a schoolie around the two pound mark.
then it was waynes turn and he managed a one a bit smaller to get him off the mark
and then it went really bezerk for a good three hours with us not even having time to peel a crab before the next bite.we were getting hit by fish regurlarly now around every 5 mins, but more bites were missed than were converted to fish but it was great fun, wayne was next into another one around the same size as the first
then i had a great slack liner resulting in one going 3lb 6oz just making the weight of fish i was after for this summers target list
i was now well pleased as you can probably imagine, but the fishing continuued at a fast pace with both of us getinng quite a few fish
as the top of the water approached things slowed down a little bit,but it was still a bite a chuck and it was getting late, and i knew i was going to have a hard time dragging wayne away home laugh_1 especially since he was so comfortable in the tent.
as the tide turned the bites picked back up a bit,but hooking some of these fish was easier said than done, and a bait in the water any longer than 15 minutes would come back stripped nearly everytime, altho for some reason this happened to wayne more than me.
we fished for around 8 hours in all and called it a night somewhere around about three in the morning having lost count of how many fish we had landed, but i had over ten fish and wayne had a few more than me,and as with most of my fish, all these fish were returned to the water and all swam away strongly, most of the fish were schoolies around the two pound mark but there were a couple landed around the three pound mark so a fantastic seshion which has got to be my best bassing seshion by far and another target off my list, and to top it off i still have some crab left too,
