humber fish kill

as some of you may know

lining the banks of the humber estury (south side) there is a number of power plants, these plants need to extract water from the river as a coolent and take gallons and gallons every day.
as the water is sucked into a inlet pipe along comes with it weed, drift wood and lots of flounders, small codling, cod, whiting, sole and scoolie bass along with tons of shrimp

the fish and rubbish are then filtered thru grids and then disposed of as they are partially fried by hot water from the plant

Tony Burman has taken it on himself to try and get something done about the declining flounder stocks in the river as the anglers have noticed a steep decline in the fish being caught.

it is estimated that 40tons of fish are being killed a year through the pipe intake from the one power plant

there has been meetings held with the powerplant and anglers and they have asked the anglers to come up with ideas of how to keep fish from entering the pipe

so....

any ideas anyone?

tony burman can be contacted on [email protected]

If the fish are filtered through grilles at the latter stage........why not fit a grille to the end of the intake pipe in the river to stop the fish being sucked in in the 1st place?.........OR.........have the grilles put to use BEFORE they reach the \"frying\" stage......ie a holding tank where they can be removed and returned to the river??

Why should the Anglers come up with idea\'s,its there problem let them sort it out, these companies will spend thousands if not millions of pounds on research and development every year, they would have known from day one what the outcome of extracting water from the river would be.
Who owns the Powerplant ?
