Head torch

I'm going to ask Santa for a new head torch and was looking at the Led Lenser Led lenser H14R.2. It's the 850 lumen one. Has anyone got one? What do you think?

cheers Gaz.

have the led lenzer for two years now excellent light, I got a cheepo head light of flea bay just as good  1/4 of the price of the led lenzer. ;)

Have both the led lenser h14r2 and the fenix hp30. Lenser is useless as soon as it rains heavy. It not waterproof and in heavy rain, flashes on and off. Mine is rechargeable one. Personally fenix is a much better headlamp and waterproof.

Cheers for that Boro. Just checked on the led lender website and it doesn't say anything about being waterproof so I'll give the fenix a bit more thought.

For what its worth I was out on Friday in the ***sy rain for a few hours using a Led Lenser H7R2, & even though I was wearing a Sundridge Floatation suit I got a bit damp but the lamp stayed dry.
Also I decided next day to drain the battery completely & recharge it so I left it switched on full & It took 4 hours to drain (after I'd used it on & off for 3 hours already)

Cheers for the replies lads. So with these Fenix ones did you all have to buy the batteries separate and also buy a charger? Adds about another 60 quid onto the price that's all. Gaz.

Rechargeable batteries and a charger under £20 for a decent set

You can get Cree headlamps with batteries and charger for less than £20 on eBay. I've had mine for about 3 years and not had any bother, unlike some of my pals with their much more expensive Tiga's etc. Mine is 1600 lumens and the beam is decent although I could do with buying better quality batteries than the ultrafire ones that I currently use (I get approx. 4hrs of regular use per charge before they need changing) and a decent charger.

I have a cree 1600 lumen which i've had for over 4 years now, and still the origional batteries.
i can go 3-4 sessions without them running out, but i use it mostly on the lower setting which is easily bright enough for baiting up etc: and just use main beem for landing a better fish in the surf.

What batteries do you use Canman? There's no chance I'd get 3-4 sessions per charge with the ultrafire batteries, maybe 2 at a push with light use and I, like you, nearly always use the lower beam.

Went for the Fenix in the end. Looks to be really good quality. Haven't used it yet but after my 'back garden trials' it will be great for fishing. Cheers Gaz.
