sighted a small pod up at st peters basin 22/02/2012 about an hour before high tide, about 30-40 yards out head and tailing with dorsal fin clearly visible so defo not seals. feeding on flatties im guessing (seen gulls takin em off top of water). didn't expect that in walker eh!! heard people seen em further down river and near the pier earlier, must be runnin up with the tide. great to see! godda love the tyne

were knocking about by tynemouth pier thursday about 4ish,
was fsihing by the gate and a young one swam along the wall about 8 ft out right under our rods, had a look about and then headed back out into the main flow
