Hall Beach 17 Sept

Drove down to Seaham with a bucketful of leads, crab, mussel and cart planning to fish the South pier. However a far better sea running than I expected was in evidence and even at low water the bigger waves were already splashing over the North pier. So safety first I dropped down onto the Hall beach despite the small tide and low water conditions. Luckily I had a wrap of frozen blacks in my box so commenced operations at the north ramp pretty much at low tide. It was straight into positive bites and fish but surprisingly they were coleys. Never caught them on a beach before. I expected things to improve as darkness fell and the water lifted but the crabs came out in force and were tearing my baits apart. That and the incessant drizzle convinced me to wrap in at half tide up, ideally when I should have been starting on the mark in my view. Still an enjoyable couple of hours out. Gonna head North this afternoon to one of my favorite marks and hope for better.

Thanks fo rthe report.

Love the Hall Beach and may fish it tomorrow evening. Was planning on Beadnell but I quite fancy a session without losing tackle.

Watch out for the crabs mate, it was infested last night, swimmers the lot. Hope it goes your way. There was a couple of small codling caught I heard on the prom.

Was on the hall beach last night for 3 hours got a tiny coley and a small cod
