Grandson's 1st fish

Blanked again

With a few hours to kill before the match today i decided, after months of promises, to take my 3 year old grandson fishing. We headed to the BA carpark for 12.15 and got set up with 2 hook flappers with 1/0 on the end and used frozen macky for bait. I got a small flounder 2nd cast which prevented the blank for me. Then young Jack says "grandad, why is my rod moving" I thought here we go, his 1st ever fish. I dont know who was more excited me or him. I got him to help reel it in and although the wieght on the end turned out to be weed we did manage to find this small whiting amongst it.

He was over the moon to catch something and as the wife keeps reminding me, size isn't everything:D
We stuck it out for another 45mins which gave Jack time to also bring in this little flounder

We then called it a day as he was getting cold and i must now head out to watch the match but a good day was had by both of us. I'm now looking forward to spending some quality time fishing with him as he grows up, unlike when i mention fishing to my son who replies "you must be kidding".
Tight lines to all from a very happy grandad.
