As it is coming up to the winter, i'm looking for some new gloves. What do you all recomend.

I have a set of the Neoprane gloves.
Warm but i find gloves a pain,now i just stick my hands in my pockets but if you want a pair then they are good.

i bought a pair of ron thompson neoprene waterproof gloves at first they seemed ok but now they just seem to let all the water thru n dont seem very warm nwhen u pull the finger tip section bk find they catch on everythin, could just be me being too fussy lol, might try them again this winter tho.

Lol, me too Nelson. I cut the fingers off mine and still don't like them. I bought a couple of pairs of ordinary fingerless gloves a lot of years ago from Temples of Whitley Bay, a long time ago. One pair is full of small holes and the other pair is as good as when I bought them.

I tend to take two or three different pairs of fingerless gloves with me when I go fishing, when one pair get wet I change to a dry pair. It has always worked for me. I love my neoprene waders, they keep me very warm but don't rate any of the three pairs of neoprene gloves that I have bought at all.

I also take three hand cloths and keep one for wiping my hands after baiting up and the other two for keeping my hands dry. Dry hands are warmer hands. If all that fails, do as Sless says and cup your balls with your hands lol, that has to be the warmest of all your extremities.

Got to agree with everyone about the neoprene gloves, crap!

I bought a pair of Snowbee fingerless fleece gloves from Grommits shop 2 years ago and cannot recommend them highly enough. They keep your hands warm even when wet and after 2 years of chucking them in the washer twice a week they are still going strong.

Our Davey hates gloves with a vengenance and swears by his hand warmer which uses them little fuel sticks, Jims Discount tackle website does those really cheap.

Its quite sick to hear that everyone has bought atleast a pair of neoprene gloves as they arent cheap.
The makers of these gloves must have known they are **** but i suppose they would hav thought even if 10% of the anglers buy a pair they will still be making millions.

Same here neoprene gloves ,great when you first put them on but as soon as water gets in them which it does with the fingers then you might as well take em off ,therefor why bother putting them on in the first place.

cold fingers put me off winter fishing, sureley somebody nust have developed a thin waterproof glove that you can wear all day when its cold??


i suffer badly from cold fingers, please help!

I agree about the Neoprene gloves,I still use mine but once they are soaked i chuck them in my box,normally try to keep my hands dry and wear cheap Thinsulate gloves and keep my hands in my pockets

well looked at sealskinz they look quite good, but think im just going to use my cheap thinsulate gloves and get a few more pairs for when they get wet.

Tony, try these, a little expensive, but, the absolute dogs bollox mate. When wet, the water warms, and keeps your hands warm and dry.
I had sealskins, these are better.

Having never wore gloves in the colder months (deep pockets,as Sless will tell you ,while in the bar) - BUT can you actually bait up,change rigs,peel crab etc etc ,while wearing any of the above gloves ???


if you need to tke them off every time you bait up ,you may as well keep your hands in your pockets

or am i missing something ??

Aye I agree wi Sless.....Best place to keep y hands warm is around y nads. Just go easy tho as if it's too cold y get reet tingly fingers if y don't ease y hands in slowly!

I love my neoprene gloves.... not the RT type though (have to agree with how ****e theya are), bought mine from the dive centre got 2 pairs depending on conditions 5mm and 3mm neoprene. as they are dive gloves they are a tight fit so that stops leaks and draughts. the 3mm ones are thin enough to bait up with. if I need to do anything else, pull em off then stick em back on again
