hi I have just started to sea fish again could anybody give me some advice on a good fixed spool reel for general fishing beach/ pier and over rocks any info would be appreciated cheers

Plenty on here can tell you better than me but for rough ground the penn spinfisher lc seems to be the best at the minute built like a tank.
I am more of a multi man my self but I have a shimano ultegra which i am a big fan of they seem to have come down in price recently they will handle most situations.

personaly, ive got 2 x surfblasters 8000.never had any problems with them, thats why i bought my 2nd 1.BUT,i only use mine on shots over l/w marks,as a rule.cant fault them. as above says, really its about where you mostly fish.

hi thank for your replies I am torn between shimano integra 10000xsc penn affinity 8000 has anybody got these reels cheers

I've got the Affinity and the Surfblaster 8000 and can't realy say there is much difference. The Affinity does not have an automatic bail arm if you start reeling in. This prevents accidental bail arm closures during casting!

All depends on your budget and areas most fished , myself I love the ultegra for general fishing but use a okuma Rex trio salt for the rough stuff , each to there own , I'm a Abu man with multi,s but loads are Penn , if ya local and want to try a few down Jarrow park ya welcome mate .. Tight lines

I use a Spinfisher in the rough ground but I also have a shimano technium mgs which I use in the pier etc or beach. You could use the spinfisher on all ground though and they are also built to last mate. You could have a chuck with mine if you wanted but I'm away next weekend and work until late some nights a week

hi thank you for your offer I think you have just made my mind up going to try and push budget to the spinfisher lc 7500 thank to all of you for your advice and kind offers tight lines every body

I would advise to have a look at one in shop first and possibly put onto a rod as I know that some people think they are too heavy and can't get away with them

hi thank you for the info have tried to send private message but he is not taking messages is the reel a spinfisher 7500 long cast by any chance I have looked but cannot find the ad, thank you anyway for taking the time to inform me tight lines

I used a pair of ultegra 10000 xsc's. I was getting too many ring wraps on the first ring and the odd bail coming over to the extent that I whacked the butt of my ttr on the wall on shields, buried the tip of the ttr into the concrete on the groin and snapped the top of my tip sport in half on my rod rest. I lost all confidence in my cast and was expecting something to go wrong each cast. I bought a spinifisher lc to try. this reel flew out without a hint of a problem. I sold the ultegras and now use a pair of spinfishers. all my casts fly out and I now have total faith in my casts again.

I have put this down to the fact that the ultegras have a slightly wider spool throwing off wider coils than the spinfishers narrower spool.
