Tonight, 7 members fished a comp on Roker Beach, in a blustery but pleasant night, using SAMF scoring chart with anything 18cm and above scoring.
The Comp was between 1800hrs and 2145hrs enabling the anglers to use the Carpark and Finnish in time before being locked in.
Mick (team) Dunn was straight into fish from the off and before anyone had chance to trouble the scorer, he had four to his name.
A few of the lads started to register but Mick was on form at a location which had seen him do well only a week ago, and he seemed to register a fish a cast.
Ian Ainsley fishing next to Mick was struggling with only one flounder to his name and had to put up with Team Dunns verbals for a time.
As the tide reached its peak, the bites for Team Dunn slowed to a standstill, and now was the time for Mick to start the excuses, my tip ring has broke, I prefer braid, your headlamp is blinding me, and finally these worms are too alive !
Well Micks sudden encounter with the Brick wall enabled the lads who had paced themselves to pull a few in and pass Mick on the home run.
Mick must have had at least ninty minutes without registering, until his very last cast produced two small codling.
To be truthful, Mick shud of breezed the Comp with the start he had, but as the say in the world of politics, SNOOZE N YER LOOSE....
biggest scoring fish on the night was a 32cm Codling for 34pts to Kev Woodcock.
All anglers had a canny night in a canny location, which was new for the club.
Fish caught tonight included Lots of Tommy Codlings, Flounder, Coleys, Rocklings and a solitary Whitey with rag/ lug tipped with maki the Fav bait.
Roll on next week in the Dintur Festival in Norway.

RESULTS....

1st Ian Ainsley 16 fish for 220pts
2nd Kev Woodcock 12 fish for 151pts
3rd Team Mick Dunn 11 fish for 149 pts
4th Alan Lunn. 7 fish for 79 pts
5th Jason Pool. 5 fish for 72 pts
6th Simon Cutter 4 fish for 56 pts
7th Dave Pool 2 fish for 36

All fish were recorded and released

I am being totally honest here lads its since I got the 15ft Salt Surfcaster and Penn 8000 reel with braid on. It has totally transformed my beach fishing-especially scratching. Three hook flapper cast a long way with a simple lob. Unbelievable bite detection and feel when using the rod. I was getting a fish a cast until the wind blew the stand over and loosened the end eye with an hour and a half of match left. Had to use different set up of spare rod Abu Suveron beachcaster 13 ft and Abu 6500 multiplier but I might as well have packed up. Tried 8000 with beachcaster but not as good.
Hats off to Kev Woodcock and Chut and all the rest of the team for an enjoyable night. As Chut says Norway next Thursday and time for some big guns to be tested.
Mick.

Well done Ian. Mick, it looks like the tortoise and the hare story all over again only Ian ain't got any hair !......lol
