12 Anglers fished the first winter Comp of the season on Seaham Hall Beach on a dropping tide between 18:30-22:30hrs using the SAMF score card for anything over 18cm on a catch and release method.
A few new faces turned up tonight for this Comp which included a young up n coming angler called Gary Pye !!
The Comp started in the last of the daylight and Ian Ainsley had a canny flounder out measuring 30cm first chuck and with darkness arriving, the expected whiting failed to make an appearance.
The anglers were spread from the North Caves down to about 100m South of the ramp, but the fishing was slow.
Young Josh Chapman then had a 32cm whiting out at the caves, soon followed by Barry Johnson with a similar one out at the ramp.
As the tide dropped exposing the sandbar, fishing became really slow, but when the sand bar was fully exposed, most anglers waded out the 150m and fished from there. The bites where almost instant with some nice Whiting showing.
Almost last cast Barry Johnson had a very nice 36cm Whiting out, giving him the biggest fish score by one point, but Ian Ainsley sneaked out a further four whiting giving him the biggest bag prize. A nice windless night with not as many fish showing as all would have liked.
Gary left early before the fish arrived, but I'm sure he will be reminded of the result !!
