Derby - overview...

Nah, we only went for a point and used yous as practice with our formations, that was always sams wish. We dont need the points this season like you lot .................. we`re on a build year, watch us next season.

I know what Norman said was partly in good jest and leg pulling, but there's an element of truth there...

Unlike Sunderland, Newcastle aren't under too much pressure this year (at least we shouldn't be) this is our sort out year..trying to get the right formula so we can move onwards ever upwards.

The only reason BFS won't be with us next season is if Mclaren gets the boot and Sam's offered the job...I personally don't see what peoples problems with him are...actually I do...it's an element of so called "experts" who sit in their armchairs (or on the Terraces) and have expectations far too high for their own good

exactly right wallsendo mate. To many people read the Sun and take in watever is spouted. The same goes with that pr*ck in the chronicle Alan Oliver.

Altho i have slated Allardyces tactics in the past few games the guy has forgot more about football than i will ever know. I still think he's the man for the job. And do believe what you and norm said about testing things out this season. He has said himself it might take a season to figure out his best team.

As for Geremi, he ran the show pre season in the centre of midfield and did do at real madrid for some time. Butt is quality but the guy is nearly 33 (and not team captain). We probably will only get another one decent season after this then we'll sell him to sunderland.

well just to put me 2peneth in, watched the game on sky with my mate (toon suporter) and as far as i'm concerned, yes we should have won but i still enjoyed the game, the crowd sounded fantastic through the stereo system and it was a normal fast paced derby game like all the others. for sunderland and our suporters its 1 point which is better than 0 points. sunderland should go out and play every game like that, in hard and fast paced, yes there is no finese like the huge clubs but it shows we have strength and that frightens some other teams. to end i have to say we have a very very fit team.

cheers

My two penneth?

Took my 10 year old daughter for her first derby experience and she loved it.

Sunderland - same old same old. Great passion, commitment and very high tempo, we're just missing that one bit of quality in the final third. A word about Kenwyne Jones. I've never been as excited about a young striker at my club since Gabbiadini burst onto the scene. The lad has everything. He terrifies centre halves (see Arsenal, Man U, West Ham) with his pace and power. As for the people who think he'll be away in January, it won't happen as I'm sure league rules prevent him from playing for 3 clubs in one season.

Newcastle - Loved watching Viduka's hold up play, really top class. Everything that went to him stuck. Owen disappointed me, although 1 moment in the 2nd half when he brought down Harpers long kick and took on the 2 centre halves was top drawer. The midfield bottled it for me, summed up by Bartons assault on Etuhu (I'm sure we'll hear more about that from the FA). The back 4 were diabolical, no other word for it. Caught out time after time 2 on 1 on corners, culminating in our goal. Worried sick by Jones all afternoon.

As for the black and whites who reckon we'll go down, one of your legends - Quasimodo - reckons we'll survive with ease, probably finishing about 10th.

I watched it in the ship, not a greatr match, but with plenty bite. Ken Jones, is IMHO, too good for SAFC. He has strength and great aerial ability, far and away their best player.
We have too many players playing out of position, and it showed.
Id have settled for a draw before the game, but I think we could have had a pen on another day, Ref was weak. missed a two footed tackle, and booked a toon player for "backing in" yet allowed a barbers pole the same offence.

Still, Bragging rights ours again.

Stan Cummins, pensioner yet?

I can't believe the ref has said he DID see this

FA seeks ref's view over Barton horror challenge | the Daily Mail

and didn't give a free kick, and the FA aren't much better,

"To take any further action would be tantamount to re-refereeing the game."

Wonder if that would of been their stance if it had been against a Man U or Chelsea player.

The ref was a joke, he kept stopping the game for nothing in the first 10 mins, then let some shocking tackles (on both sides) go unpunished.

good result for the toon they should of buried us and i think you have something special in jones just hope you manage to keep hold of him

He's just another waster like Bowyer and a few others we seem to attract, the games I've seen and from what others tell me the derby match was probably one of his better games,he'll end up missing more games through suspension than anything else
