That must have been Ian next door, a couple of hundred yards to the left of me - seen one lad pumping in a fish early on. Grim day for me, not a bite till nearly 1 o'clock when I got a fish on only for it to come off halfway in:(, wouldn't have beaten Ian's though, felt about 2 or 3lb at best. Never seen another fish all day.

Well done to those who managed to weigh in (especially a codling!).

Gary :)

i fished embleton after flats & managed 2 good flats but did'nt make the weigh in as we got stuck behind 1 of those sunday drivers down the country roads & it took us over 1 hour 2 get back i missed out by 5 mins. i did weigh them at home & had 2 flats for 2lb- 15oz. one at 1lb-2oz & the other 1lb-13oz.

I think I missed a trick today. Went after the cod, nowt! switched to the flatties for last hour and caught 3 in 3 chucks for 2lb 8oz. Oh well you live and learn. Well done to all the lads who weighed in. Tight lines.

well done to all who managed to get 2 the scales. and well done the organisers, seems every1 wants 2 fish but not many actually get up and sort something out. a could`nt make 2day, but put me down for the future.

Point taken for the future. Please see below.

All of the tackle shops with pre registration had a copy of the rules for reference. The flyers all had my number on for competitors to ring and clarify any points. All the shops knew to direct competitors to NESA for a rules list. You don't have to be a NESA member to view the forums so if directed to the site you could find the rules.

I appreciate a little extra effort would have provided a set of rule each. Between 5 tackle shops we only had 29 anglers pre register. I would have provided 50 sets of rules per shop as you never can tell how many will fish. They spare would be thrown away as the rules change each year due to times of comp and weigh in.

There is no financial gain to the club from this match in fact the club runs at a loss each year from it. All the entry money is all divided up and a small amount taken from each prize as a donation to Blyth Lifeboat who will receive £30 from yesterdays competition. The club funds purchase the Junior prize and juniors entry is free to encourage the younger anglers into the sport

The competition is to remember a much respected member of Blyth Sea Angling Club and yesterday was the 17th time we have ran the competition. It has been difficult over the years to keep the competition going when club membership has been very low and all the organising and work involved still has to be done. Due to the efforts of the chairman and previous secretary there has never been a year missed.

The reason the competition is run in this manner is to keep it going with the minimum of effort.

Thanks to all who fished yesterday and supported the competition, the tackle shops for pre registering and The Ridley Park Hotel for their. support and continuing use of the venue.

Well done to Chris, Peter and Ian and also to both juniors who weighed in Craig and Robert.

Nigel
