Cod season nearly over

Might be a stoopid question so keep the flamage to a minimum.
Fishing in the dark is better for feeding cod and so far it's pretty much all I've done other than a few afternoons on the pier with my lad. Is it still better to fish after dark all year round or is daylight still ok. Not going to get a tan fishing at night.

summer days in daylight at seahouses beadnell. eyemouthj,st abbes. will catch you plenty of cod no need to fish in the dark when you can see what you are doing in daylight, most of the clubs fish there matchs in daylight with low water being about 12.00 favourite. have a look up there on a sunday and you will see plenty of lads fishing and you will get an idea were to fish to suit you. davy.

I only got into fishing tail end of last summer too Peach and I cannot wait for my first full summer fishing! To be fair I didn't have much of a clue when I first started out (still don't but I am a bit wiser now ) I would like to say a big thanks to the lads and lasses on here for letting me pick their brains over this winter!

Looking forward to all the fishing already mentioned plus collecting peeler etc. Read the codling crouch cover to cover several times now (great book for those that haven't) and cant wait to be fishing for kelpies in the sunshine

In answer to your question Peach from what I understand in complete contrast to the winter months the summer fishing is best on the hottest calmest days. Role on I say

It has to be said though, I get a massive kick out of fishing in all weather's and elements, off the rocks into a winter north sea. Must be the caveman in me.

Had myself 3 lovely cod today. Daylight low tide at cullernose
Loads of people out but no one else was as lucky

i'm with you all the way there dale . Plus i hope the cod seasons not over yet as iv not caught one yet ! Lol . They do say that god loves a trier ! Obviously he's ignoring me

you have a bit of a travel m8 from corbridge down to the coast , just keep at it you will catch a cod soon best of luck to you

best sesh I ever had was off the steetly pier in mid may I had 13 cod with best fish at 9.1/2 lbs and my mate had 17 fish with best fish at 8lbs it was a night time sesh and warm but with a good south easterly sea running, so don't think you can only catch them during the winter months,40 years ago we didn't have a cod season we could get them anytime of the year.
