Ok, the original idea has evolved a bit.

I'll list the kit we have

Shakespear MG10000 beach rod, Greys Gmag 7 Multi, Spinning rod, reel, lures, Tiga headlamp and charger(not sure model, but I got it from here a while ago), Adjustable tripod/rod stand, waterproofs, waders (Aldi/Lidl ones), misc spools line, weights rig bits, rig folder etc, oh and a signed copy of Davids book http://www.nesa.co.uk/forums/codling-crouch-david-storey

Money raised to goto Little Derek's Journey to walk, as discussed in earlier thread.

Thanks so far to mick303, clarky, regpude, broon shoe, gramas, Stores.

All in we made £200 so cheers to all those that helped.

All the best!!!!

Once decided, I can sort delivery/collection of the whole lot, as long as its fairly local.

Suggest we give this until Mid-day on new years day?

Welcome to thoughts and other ideas guys!!

But it looks good to go for me, and its not a bad little setup to get started with.

Thanks all.

:D

That is some amount of kit! A big well done to all who contributed, I hope you raise a good sum for the chosen charity. :)

£50

£50

It has already been said, but a well done to all who have contributed, im guessing this will or should make over the £50 mark to make sure it does thats what i bid, IF I win the lot will go on ebay and any money raised will go to rnli so they dont miss out.

Thanks mate, however the idea was to get a setup to someone starting out etc and to give them money away.

Sort of defeats the point if people buy/ bid just to sell elsewhere?

2nd what you say Gary, if folk bidding just to get an item cheaper n then flog leftover equipment then it defeats point. Those including myself have donated to raise money for good cause & flog me if want but rnli do ok anyways

So why not to the same charity we doing this for???
Kind of defeats object of why in 1st place we all started adding gear!
Yes it's evolved but was it not to give someone a start that perhaps didn't have the right gear to fish like a lot of us do, they see the post or family member or friend does, chip there pounds n pennies together and make an offer!
Not knocking the guy for donating cash to rnli just in this situation it's a bid just to bump the price , he if was to win does not want the gear.
Nevermind eh

POSSIBLE SOLUTION? could troyster just kindly donate his £50 to rnli,as he was going to do.then if jamesm bid of £45 wins, the lad gets the fishing gear @ his £45 bid goes to little deraks charity, that way 2 charitys benifit aswell as possibly jamesm,if all that makes sence.

OR give your origanal christmas spirit rod to winton,as he was 1st on @ his reason for the rod was explained by him self,he could possibly make a small donation.then start the bidding off again for all the rest,im sure possibly same amount will be bid.that way origanal thread solved.then winning bid for rest of gear goes to d r c.then its up to troyster if he still wants to kindly donate anything to rnli.ps,whats your thoughts on these idears?

Good crack lads, a great set up for someone,
Gary, this is the updated photo with the extra bits on mate....

regpubes , another idea would be for garyp to stick to his chosen charity and anyone that wishes for another charity be advised not to bid and stop complicating the whole issue.

In my opinion if someone bids and wins then the money goes to Gary's chosen charity, what the winning bidder does with the gear afterwards is his business.

Well done to all the donators :thumbup:

woah, its getting far too complicated like!!!!

The main issue with what was suggested is that out of this bit of goodwill, ebay would also be making a profit?? if stuff went there.

The stuff I have donated, and that from others, was really meant to go to someone less fortunate, and any money made given to the charity.

Its for a good cause lads, and theres no need to make this harder than it is really.

If you know someone who would really benefit from this kit, or if you would yourself, then make a "bid" Currently we are at £45, a bit more would be great, but I'm not going to get all Bob Geldof, not yet anyway:D

auction, donation?

auction, donation?

It looks like me and the rest of us who have made a bid have done the wrong thing here, it did start as a donation to a needy angler with a donation going to the rnli, then grew into an auction for a very needy cause, but the nature of an auction is to raise as much cash as possible or am I wrong?
From my point of view im a boat angler first and formost I might do 10 shore fishing trips a year, I have read and been on this site for a few years spent hours every week reading reports of trips and catches for FREE cost me nothing so me donating £50 to a charity which ever one it is good value for me in my eyes it just so happens that 2 charities were going to benefit all the better, If my bid was wrong then I apologies retract it if you wish, if not let the bidding continue, or give the needy angler the gear job done.
DOES IT HAVE TO BE SO COMPLICATED?
