Catch report "Grace" 01/10/11,one to remember,

Cracking Catch!

I always thought Monk Fish and Angler fish were different, but reading around the net it appears the Monkfish is what the english call a specific species of Angler fish that we find in the north sea, so they are technically the same in that respect (like Tadpoleman said!) Supposedly the yanks call them Goosefish!!

Again, a cracking catch, well done!

anglerfish off our coast are pretty common local boats have landed plenty over the last thirty year ive been on sunderland / north shields fish quays ...

I, Als right def an angler fish, nice one all the same.

We were both right. Either way at fish markets they are sold as Monkfish.

Monkfish in the UK is a sub species of anglerfish - there are 11 different types.
Same as you have Tuna - but yellowfin, bluefin, bonito etc - all tuna but totally different.
