Canny night at Duridge

Fished the south end of Duridge bay last night from 8.30 pm - 12.30 am. The wind had dropped away, the rain had stopped and it was quite mild. Also there was a nice SE sea still running, with plenty of "white water" in certain spots.
Anyway I ended up with 2 cod & 2 bass. Kept the biggest bass (2.5 lbs), but returned the others. Surprisingly enough only one other light on the beach (my mate fishing next to me ; he caught a cod about 1.5 lbs)
Very enjoyable night. OK nothing of any great size caught, but I did get another couple of bites as well as the fish. Baits used ; rag & yellow tails cocktail.

Hi Chris,
There are a few places you can park if you want to fish the south end of Duridge.
Assuming you are heading North through Cresswell :

a) Boat compound car park : keep on the coast road towards Widdrington, and pass Cresswell ice cream shop on your right. About another 600 yards you will see a metal archway leading to a car park, which takes you within a couple of hundred yards from the beach.
b) Green skeer car park : Heading in the same direction about another half / three quarters of a mile you will see a couple of large bushes / trees on your right. Right beside these is a small tarmac car park. Follow the path through the dunes and you on the beach.
c) Continue North along the same road, and as it bends left, you will see a track straight on, where you have loads of places to park. Bit more of a hike, but still quite near to the beach.

As far as marks go ; best check out the beach at low tide..............loads of holes and sand bars. However they do "move" after heavy seas, but if nothing else, you can nearly always find some surf and white water. Sometimes long casting not needed, and if your after bass short casts behind the surf often pays off (even during daylight) Night time much better for cod, although I have had a few in daylight, if you hit the right conditions.
Hope this is of some help to you.
