Boat competition

Anyone know of any small boat comps coming up in this area, (north east) excluding wreck fishing. When your up against larger boats fishing well off shore wrecks, usually for the heaviest fish, it's hardly worth the bother.
I used to enjoy fishing the small boat comps that Sam Harris use to organise back in the eighties, when the top prize went to the heaviest bag. I know most people are conservation minded nowadays, but they could up the size limit to around 3lb, whatever that might be in centimeters, a good size for the table.:red::red:

Judging by the replies of late arthur I think its fair to say there's probably enough of us to organise our own comp(s) this year ...... :)

we did the same a few times in years gone by with a basic heaviest fish comp run from Royal Quays (organised by us for us). .... see here :-

the original image hosting has since been removed but I still had the files so I`ve updated with photobucket hosting (same pictures)

Thanks for the suggestions, looks like you all had a good day back then Norm. Does it take much organising, if a few of us muck in together:rolleyes:. I have fished 2-3 Fasers comps, but with the 14ft boat i had, was restricted to fishing inshore.:(. Anyhow food for thought;)

No probs in organising arthur as its a private affair, we just said £3 each (or £5 , not sure now) then met back at agreed time and weighed the fish with winner taking 50% second 30% and 3rd 20% .....
nee bother, all a good laugh :) no registration or anything and all above board on trust :)

Anytime suits me for a comp, but I know if you say anytime then it gets difficult to arrange as everyone tries to suit their own diary ..... so ....

How about Saturday 22nd may (2 weeks time) .... meet at RQ marina waiting pontoon .... at say 7.30am for an 8.00am start with a 4.00pm finish.
This is early enough in the season that the inshore fishing is still good and the wrecks not started yet, also with a High tide at 11am (med at 4.4mtrs) we get the best part of it ie 3 hrs up and the rest on the way down.

Anyone interested ..... ?
