Better than being at work

Had a spur of the moment day off work today, so decided to head down the pier.

The big beach at about 8 this morning.

Was hopeful for plenty of cod after seeing the reports from the weekend and from last night, but didn't get anything all morning. I was fishing the 45ish mark and trying Lug, Mussel, Cart, Bluey, Macky, big hooks, small hooks, flappers, pulleys, close in, far out, etc.... but nowt. It was a nice morning though!

About dinner time I got my first knock and thought I had a decent fish when I was reeling it in..but it turned out to be this lobster

Then just before high tide this afternoon, I got a flounder and then a codling, but only about 1.5lb, and then over high tide there was a bit of a whitey attack, had 5 or 6 I think. Then on the ebb it died off, and I called it a day about 5pm.

Disappointed I didn't get a decent cod today but it was definatley way better than being stuck in work.

Toonboy, mad rob, and outkast, came along the pier and went to fish the end, so look out for Micks report, I'm sure there would of been some shenanigans with the Crabstick crew up there.

Ah man! A lad came past me from the end and said someone had had a 3lber; thought it would of been one of you. Well done to rob, he's on fire with the cod this winter.

Canny report and photos Andy, looks like the sea has flattened off quite a bit, I'm still kicking myself that I didn't get on the pier on Sunday.
