Best Braid - Again

Inspired by Pulps thread and the various posts about braid I thought I'd asks everyone's opinions on the best braid for lure fishing, as it has already been pointed out different braids may suit different types of fishing. At the moment I'm using power pro on my Bushy for most of my lure fishing, I have 2 reels set up one with 15lb and one with 30lb, now I know 30lb May seem a bit heavy and I would agree but I had it set up to fish a particular mark where I had previously lost a few big fish and I was using the tidal flow to carry my lure so casting wasn't a problem. So my standard setup is 15lb braid on my Bushy casting lures between 10 and 30 grams. On my LRF rod I have 8lb Power Pro. I tend to use a rubbing leader slightly lighter than the braid I'm using. I haven't had many problems with line snapping, apart from when big fish have took me down into the rocks.

So what are you using.

I am using g soul x8 upgrade 1.2 pe 25lb . I only really target bass and fish a lot of shallow heavey ground and encounter a lot of weed using lures down to about 8 grams so I need a thin strong braid and the 25 lb b/s allows me to use a 20 lb leader .the reel I use has quit a shallow spool so a low diamiter line is nessesery

I use Duel Hardcore x8 0.6PE (13lb) for spinning. I mainly fish soft plastics on 7g jigs ( unless i need to save a blank then i'll stick a zen on:D), and i like to give the fish a chance, so i like a low diameter braid to help with increase sink rates in deep water and help keep in contact with the lure. i did have 5lb Whiplash on my lrf kit but it was terrible so i'm trying 2lb flouro out instead

I've also got Power Pro 8 Slick on my multi for the cod and it's excellent. If my spinning line turns out to be crap, then i think i might give power pro a go on my lure kit, if they bring out light enough line out.

That I think I'll be using the PP 8 Slick this year. The lightest is 10kg that's about 22lb at 0.15mm or PE 0.8 that's nearly twice the BS of your hard core for 0.02mm diameter gain on your line

It might be worth looking at the Power Pro Super for your LRF mate, they do a 6.5lb at 0.06mm

You should mate it seems like good stuff, they seem to have sorted their diameter issues and you can get it for nearly half the price!

The flouro was working out well mate. I've found it sinks so it helps take a 3g jig deep and it's heavy with no stretch so you get a good chuck on it but it's still got good bite detection. It means i can fish lighter in deeper water and/or in the wind. I might not swap back to braid lol

The power pro website has it listed for .15 but on agm's it has it listed at .23 mm, think I was looking at the same stuff , apologies if I am wrong

That's the stuff , super 8 slick , thought you were talking about 10 kg b/s ( roughly 20 lb )

Sorry mate, I see what your saying now. There seems to be a discrepancy there, your right agm are advertising it as 10lb (4.45kg) and Power Pro are advertising it as 10kg (about 22lb).

Well spotted mate, I'll do some more digging.

Hmm I might have to get some and test it, not sure how accurately I could measure the diameter with a micrometer, would probably need a laser micrometer lol
