Article 47.

only contact i have with alot of people in one place is Facebook... just joined, making a group with a petition link so that might boost the petition aswell

Sent my e-mail off this afternoon when I first seen it on the WSF Scottish forum

This is the reply I got within an hour -

Dear Mr. Stephenson,

Thanks for your email. I agree with you entirely about Article 47 of the Council Regulation on control systems for compliance with the CFP which will be discussed in the Fisheries Committee of the European Parliament in January. While I and my Conservative colleagues support moves to ensure vigorous compliance with measures which seek to protect and conserve fish stocks, we are deeply concerned at the proposal contained in Article 47 of the Regulation, which will effectively bring recreational fisheries under the direct control of the CFP.

The Proposal would require millions of recreational anglers throughout the EU to apply for special licences and log and register their catches, where they are fishing for species covered by a multi-annual recovery plan. Member States would have to allocate a quota for recreational anglers and this would be deducted from their national quota. Recreational anglers would be prohibited from selling any fish they catch.

Together with my Conservative MEP, we believe these proposals are draconian and unworkable and would impose a level of bureaucratic interference into sport fishing that would have a disastrous impact on the tourist sector, without providing any meaningful benefits to conservation. We will seek to remove recreational fisheries from the context of the proposed regulation.

I hope this reassures you.

Best wishes,

Struan Stevenson

Lets keep on the case lads n lasses

email sent but I don't see any point in petitioning No10, as our elected parasites don't have a say in the matter the EU parliament is our real masters anyway. (besides if 1.9 million signatories opposing pay as you drive vehicle charges can be brushed off the e-petition has no worth what-so-ever, also worth considering Petition No10 isn't even a secure site)

Have also posted the WSF post on front page of NEAnglers (a site I run) every little helps.

I've posted on another site about this issue, and posted it on all the area sub-forums. I then got a pm from a mod telling me I was breaking the rules, and if I attempted to do it again, I'd be banned:o

I couldn't believe it, an issue that concerns every member of every sea angling forum, and they say that!

what a joke..... we all need to stick together on this one

I sent this...

Could you, the mods, not create a post regarding this issue and sticky it?

Its an issue that would effect EVERY member of this forum, and as such, everyone should be aware of it. I can't believe that this hasn't been put on every sub-forum on here.

And got this reply...

There has already been a considerable amount of discussion on this in the Conservation and Politics Forum as well as most of the other forums. I dont think anything would be gained by doing what you suggest.

For the sake of 9 posts, on each regional sub-forum.

what a f*****g clown. that t**t needs a slap. he obviously doesn't give a f**k about fishing

After I raised another argument (basically telling him that if it results in just one more email sent to a MEP, then its a result), he's now told me to contact the site admin, which I have.

the thing is it would be a political matter,.... but its got 3 main interests 1. poltics 2. ALL SEA ANGLING 3. in the end with the amount of people refusing to fish most likely the end of there fishing forum, it it really a matter for the politics only section, i think not

You know as well as I do, the majority of lads on fishing forums come on to find out where's fishing, and to ask for advice on marks. That takes them to their regional forum.

Thats what I pointed out to the mod in question. I now await an answer from the site admin

no offence to all the moderaters

The fishing forums as you said are visited for advice reports and marks that are fishing

If this moderater on a different site can't see this then i think he has his priorities as a mod and more importantly to the site mixed up!

I DO NOT think that any mods on here have that mix up.

Personally i would contact the admin with all theinformation and messages you have and see if he will do something.

(again not to our mods which are mint)

i think sometimes mod's of forums go to be someway a "power mad"... cock.

I've sent off an email expressing my concern about this proposal. One bit that confused me was "Along with these, catch and release will be banned", does that mean if I catch a fish, and then want to return it, I'm not allowed?

Just an update...

Got a pm from the site admin, who said this...

I've asked all of the regional moderators to put a post and stick it in their regions which will re-direct to the one central thread.

Well done to him, and well done to me for twisting so much:D
