Well after picking up some bait from Rutherfords, met Brian a good mate of mine down Seaham North Pier for a nights fishing.

Walking up the pier we bump into a lad and his son with a cracking double, seeing other fish on pier gave us hope! We needed it after a couple of not so successful sessions of late lol

We got there about 9.30 ish, few lads already on, went straight to drum end and set up 2 rods a piece.

Sea and wind was calm with nice light rollers coming in as lower water was approaching.

Night started slow, few bites here and there but couldnt connect. Then low water hit and the whitings showed. Stripping big baits and making the rods rattle every cast. Baited up one rod and before I could bait the other, the rod in the stand was rattling away.

We both caught a handfull of good sized whitings, all going back in.

Tide started flooding and the whiting blitz ended. Got a light tap on my rod ended up pulling out a codling at the 1lb mark. Returned to fight another day.

Bites went a bit quiet untill 2 hours before high tide. So I pulled mine in to re-bait when I hear 'Got a double on!!'

Brians pumping away while the rods banging its tits off, almost doubled over he gets it in closer. He gets it to the pier wall and we can see the size of it!!

After a frantic panic to get the net down, its landed and up on the drum end!

Im sure the lads on the Heugh in Hartlepool would have heard us!! Cracking fight, cracking fish and a cracking nights fishing.

Bites and fish almost every chuck, then it made my night seeing Brians Cod, he was over the moon!!! Congrats mate!

Weighed this morning in house at a shade over 12lb 2oz. Caught on yellowtails tipped with squid.

My codling caught on whole squid tipped with Bluey.

Tight lines, Kyle.
