Advice please

Hi all thanks for taking the time to read this. I couple of months ago I had the unpleasant experience of having fishing gear stolen from my home in a place which I thought was secure ( obviously not so ) police were contacted..... It's not rocket science to keep your gear safe so lesson learnt ! Over the last course months I've started replacing rods reels etc, some things are irreplaceable ..... I have decided to make my own rigs and leads .... After mAny hours of practicing I'm still struggling with knotts and rigs so any advice appreciated ... Also I've got hold of a camping stove for lead making ... Any advice on this also .... I understand to keep the mould dry and warm... To cast outside .... Any thoughts on the best vessel to melt the lead in ?? You replies will hopefully help to identify what I need .... Sorry for the long post .. Thanks in advance and tight lines

Hi mate.if you google netknots youl find a great wed site with every fishing knot youl ever need.has a pic of every knot n also if you click play under diagram it gives you a slow motion video on doing that specific knot.theres also a few web sites on different types of rig makeing.just google sea fishing rigs n you shoud find site your lookong for.tight lines:thumbup:

I use a cast iron pan for melting lead (great for holding the heat) Try ebay for secondhand ones. Once you've cast a few leads, the mould gets hot and stays hot (usually too hot)

Sorry to hear of your misfortune and hope you get sorted soon. The only thing I think you might struggle with is, the camping stove will probably not generate enough heat to get the lead hot enough. I would try and get a blowtorch of some kind to help melt the lead in the pot directing the flame directly at the lead, and the heat from the stove should keep the lead hot enough between poring.

got to agree, initially takes a while longer to melt lead, but once lead melted pan stays hot
