First fishing trip out on our first ever boat Mirage Merry Fisher 695 IB delivered to Amble marina last weekend

Busy day ahead and football to watch in the afternoon so we were up early to grab a bit fishing and getting acquainted with Launching etc.. The early sun was stunning

Managed to get out of Marina around 9am( without hitting anything ) and headed over toward Coquet Island. Sea was very calm and clear. Slow lazy swell and a slow drift. Slowly trying to ease my wife into fishing so short trips on calm days is what i am aiming for with hopefully a few fish thrown in.

baited her rod with some razor clam and showed her how to let the line out. As soon as she hit bottom her rod went crazy and she was into her first decent fish. After a little struggle her first codling appeared. Not sure of weight or length it was returned to grow a bit more. She insisted I held it for a photo probably should have held it a bit closer to the camera, seems smaller than I remember:cool:

Final score was WIFE 2 Jonny 1 my fish was a tiny coalie but at least I didn't blank:cool:

After a quick start and a short hive of activity everything went dead so we decided to head back in. Starting to get a feel for the boat now and mooring went very well. Next trip out will be longer when weather permits and hopefully a better report with more detail and fishy action.

Just made it home for Newcastle match and they didn't let me down ending weekend on a high:)

Cant wait to get back out:cool:

Terrific first report Jon!

And very cunning of you to let your wife catch the bigger fish. I like your style !!

So glad it all went well. Always daunting to get in and out of your berth, but you'll soon be a dab hand (pun intended). :p

See you around

Cheers Adrian I would love to think it was planned, she simply out fished me  Hoping this weather holds and I can get out at the weekend. Was quoted a substantial amount of money ( just shy of £500 labour ) to fit a shoot through hull transducer and fish finder / plotter so might just install myself on Friday.
