Set out to fish a s/s summer league match this morning, but only 3 turned up , so we decided to fish together for the craic. Me first cast half tide up nice plaice , 30 mins later keith 1 octopuss. dave was tormented by small coalies .towards high water, keith decides to go light and between coalies and the odd horneel ,he accidentally caught a guillimot, which was quickly released unharmed. what with tourists speed boats nearly dragging rods in, yachts comming to close, and jet skis. roll on winter

I was on the pier this morning from 8am had a nice coalie of 38cms. Theyre was only 2 on the end and the other lad was feathering for mackeral. I gave them a good home! About 11am a load of club lads from Easington came down and had a few lobsters, plaice, small codling and coalies. Had a nice morning until the speed boats turned up, oh and the pier was a mess, god knows what the Easington lads thought of the place!

been looking for one of them lead launchers. an air powered device that casts your lead out for you. Its for those who have back injuries and cant cast. As Mr Charlton says, once we are all equiped with one of those, the jet skiers and yauchts wont stand a chance. As I have grown older, I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible,
but P*****g everyone off is a piece of cake.

Didnt have a problem with the jet skiers it was just a brainless fickwut in a bright yellow speed boat. They just come so close to the pier its unreal. Its going to take someone to get hurt b4 they realise. I read in Sea Angler magazine about 10 years ago that its actually illegal to fish from South Shields pier. It all came about because of an angler writing in to the mag and asking if this was true because he had the same bother with a boat and contacted the Port Of Tyne and they told him there was nothing he could do because it was \"illegal to fish the pier\" how true this is i dont know?????

Jaimie I was on the south east corner that morning, the first cast i had a nice plaice ,keith & dave were on the short wall fishing the first of the flood, for what it was worth being a small tide. we were really enjoying ourselves when this yellow flying machine came past . I shouted to the lads but it was too late he nearly took their rods in. I never had my tide table with the harbourmasters phone number in but when i got home i put it in my phone. they should take a course on seamanship, as far as i\'m aware it\'s ok to fish for recreational purposes, providing there are no fixed lines to the pier
