  • Grand Tourismo - Hartlepool

My girlfriend Lynn and I are Staying at Crimden Dene Caravan Park next month for a week, our first of four trips around the NE this year.

We have a couple of charters booked, so here's hoping for decent weather and a few spring cod !

We also want to do some shore fishing when we are there. Never having been to the Hartlepool area before we would love a little advice. We have used the search facility and it seems that a few beaches/rocks may give us a chance of a fish.

Not asking for anybody's favourite marks, just someone who might point us in the right direction.

    Any help gratefully received.

Cant go wrong with most of the boats from hartlepool especially evelyn jayne and famous/famous's new boat (forgot the name)

    As for shore..

If you want easy fishing then cant go wrong with giving middleton pier behind the marina a crack for flatties and coalies

if you dont mind a little bit of a walk then Horden beach is a good shot again for flatties..

further up the coast might give more chance of spring cod but still a little early imo

the beach at crimdon [fished over low] will give a chance of a few mixed flats with the chance of a small bass.

its all clean sand. a short lob is all thats needed with ragworm for bass and tipped with fish for the flats.

if the sea gets away there will be the chance of a rare codling.

Thanks lads. I meant a Spring Cod from the boat. Will be more than happy with coalies and flatties from the beach. As for Bass, that would be amazing and a first for both of us !!

Thanks for that, going out with Jim on North Star out of Hartlepool and Peter on Sapphire out of Sunderland.

Lynn needs a boat with a toilet to maintain her dignity!!

Really looking forward to the week.
