ive used them live on a float before and had fish (i had ran outta bait on a holiday in S.W. Scotland)
you can but only try.... but I doubt they`ll be as good as mussel due to not having any where near the same smell or bright juices...My Weapons of Choice

i agree with geordie, used them for the same reason aswell, can't remember if i caught on them but like he said the smell but its all over tooooo fast, they harden in minutes and dont have any scent from what i smelt lolSpecies: Cod, Bass, Coalie, Flounder, Dab, Rockling, Mackerel, Plaice, Pollock, Ballen Wrasse, L/S Scorpion, Common Blenny, Weaver (unfortunately), Whiting, Common Eel, Trout, Pike... think that's it

i have used limpets off the rocks before.
im a great believer in trying all kinds of baits, at the end of the day fish are scavengers.
a while back, i had 3 size cod 1 night, i was using the limpet with lug and mussel. seemed to do the trick.
I have also had fish nip them off the hook, float fishing for wrasse.
