  • Reel help please.

All the best for 2014 to everyone on NESA.

I've just been sitting in my shed and I've took the side and spool out of my akios 651 CSM (magged and level wind) and there's what looks like sand or grit in the reel. Can anyone give me any advice on cleaning it. I've got a tube of oil that came with the reel. Should I just take it apart as much as I dare, degrease the whole thing then re oil it? I'll go and get some proper de greaser tomorrow if that's the way to do it.

    Cheers for any help.
    All the gear, no idea.

Is there any point on a level wind like Scott. The oil I've got came with the reel so that should be up to the job.

If the sands in that side chances are it will be in the gear side as well, if you're not sure about stripping it you're self best take it to somewhere and let them clean it otherwise strip it all down and soak the bits in lighter fuel, blow them out and regrease/oil when reassembling.
