We left RQ's at 8am which is a tad later than our normal start and headed North. We drifted three of our banker wrecks but the fish were scarce and we only managed perhaps 5 or six Cod before slack water when the bites dried up completely. As the tide turned and gathered momentum we anticipated more fish coming to the boat but it didn't happen even though we darted back and forth between the wrecks trying several different lures, baits and techniques.
Conditions were perfect and yet no fish so we eventually came in to fish the rough ground and within seconds of the first drop we all had fish and this continued for the rest of our day. We fished mostly a flowing trace baited with Mackerel and Prawn so despite the slow start we ended up reaching our quota (approx 30 fish) and returning at least another dozen.
