had mine for ages now, its as sharp as the day i bought it..........................one of these days i am going to catch something to use it on though

I`ve tried a few, used to swear by the rapala ones however recently 4 year or so I`ve been using the (Fairly) cheap yellow handled ones and instead of trying to keep sharpening (although I do sharpen now and again) I just cycle them.
a) New one for final filleting
b) previous seasons filleting one for gutting and cleaning,
c) previous seasons gutting one for cutting bait
seems to work well a) lasts more than a season but for about £10 probably best to start with a new one each year and b&c can be sharpenend every trip if required.

Over the years I've always used Caley fisheries down at North Shields fish Quay, they supply the commercial fishing boats and most of the fish shops on the quay, and only cost about a tenner, great knives..!

Yep John who fillets our catch gets his knives from caleys, they are made by Victorinox and cost a tenner. They also sell a sharpener made by accusharp for the same price, sharpens knives in no time.

got mine at Caleys umpteen years ago and still going strong, although a lot thinner, and I find better for filletting, now. Did make a beauty once at work out of stainless steel with a bacolite handle, kept the edge ofr ages. But was coming back from a successful trip one day and my mate, was gutting filletting on way in. He was in his stride, guts over the side, filletts in box wash knife. Oops got out of sink, where did knife go "plop"
