Hello, I fished the Wherry a few weeks ago on a big tide. It's difficult for me pin point the exact location but I was fishing off a flat rock about 15 foot up. It may have been called the shelf. I got to this location by parking behind whitburn lodge and a 6 to 8 minute walk straight down towards the sea got me and mate onto this great flat rock edge. We fished for over 3 hours and I lost one set of gear only. A long cast got me over the mixed ground onto sand. A short cast with heavy gear will get you into rock and kelp. Heavy gear is needed for a short chuck but definitly worth thinking about.
The bad news is, we caught one rockling between us but I imagine on its day, maybe today because there is a nice sea running from the north it will produce some fish.
Good luck and be extra careful when fishing the rock edges. I hope this helps.
Regards Rushy
