What 12 - 15lb line do you use for distance?

What line do you reconmend for long distance light fishing?

I currently use Ultima F1 Black 15lb on my 7ht mags, and Penn Supermag, but now im really winding up my casting im finding it a bit "firery jack" - liable to blowing up a bit (not to nesting point) just after the peak of a cast. I can turn the mags up a bit more but it impends the cast and i dont have this problem with other lines on the same reels...

Someone has said to try the titanium coloured same line.. others said Sakuma Crystal??!??

So before i go buying a new brand, what would you reconmend? i dont like the Diawa Sensor for small reels, due to it being a tad thick for the breaking strain.

What do the tournament casters of you out there use on the field?

Sakuma nite crystal, 14lb is 0.31 and brilliant line, just join your leader with a bimini hitch.

Buy a 1/2 kilo sool and you can use it for the field too!

at the moment i am fishing with sakuma crystal i am using 14lb and its 0.31mm
i find it really good for my clean ground fishing .... only using 14lb cos the was none of 15lb ... it casts really well on my 6500 and has good knot strength...
my previous clean ground line was stren blood red in 15lb ..... another line i was very happy with...

but some of use like to fish out further than your 40yards lol ;o)

Never go off the breaking strains, go off the diameter as am sure you know.

in this case diawa sensor is just as good in the lower breaking strains in my opinion, doesnt flare up as much on a powerful cast as the more expensive lines.

You must me kidding, sensor is a good strong line (i use it in 18lb myself) but because its a hard compound its very wiry and springy and can nest easier, nite crystal is much better as a casting line thats why tourney lads including myself use it.

You can get sakuma in .35 mm too its about 16-17lb

Sensor is strong as hell tho, it depends what you want really.

For fishing i would always sacrifice a bit of distance for strength.

Unless your fishing a really clean beach i would stick to 18lb or above. I can count on my hand the beaches in the north east that you can get away with really light line. Even the cleanest looking beach often has a kelp bed lurking offshore!

well for distance alone I personally think nite crystal, you just have to see what the field casters using, with a tuned up reel set perfectly for a cast.

for fishing purposes, I stand by sensor, even light fishing.

the leader knot takes more strain, even more than suffix tritanium, I no this as I have tested them. 18lb sensor for example is stronger than 20lb tritanium.
also when pulling out of snags with your rod in a horizontal position we all know the line digs into the layers below (especially softer , more expensive line) this usually results in a crack off next cast.
sensor withstands more.

40yrds ! you want to be out there were the fish are feeding! 150+ gives you more of a chance of better fish!!! but my son has had better fish at 20yrds. the fish can up anywhere

the best line av used wud be ultimer power 18lb. its smooth casting and gives excellent knot strength

Ultima F1 18lb is the lowest i will go, i have used diawa sensor and its like trying to fish with steel cable- it may well be strong but its a pain to use.

I use 25lb ultima f1 for most of my distance work north of the tyne. U should be able to get as far as u need with that, without losing out on strength/fish.

Suppose on cleaner beach's further south i would have to switch to my flimsy mags loaded lighter line for out and out distance.

Its not the distance that counts its the know how, if the mark fishes close in or at distance then thats what you do or if theres a hole close in you fish it not cast beyond and over it. Lots of peeps in the northeast plain and simply cast too far and over the fish, distance is only required on flat clean beaches when the conditions require it. I use 15-20lb berkley, strong as, good abraisve resistance and good knot strength, good all rounder even though it isnt the thinest dia. For the rocks its 40lb berkley straight through or 30lb suffix tritanium with a leader.

Nothing wrong with the line. Try not to abrase it on the pier wall when fast up and it won't snap in your hand.

dont think many fish have been caught in 3 yrs neither mr sless ! as to many of my buds are far to preoccupied with out casting each other sometimes at great expense as well. lol.
