No catch or blank reports from Wasabi....

YOU ARE TERMINATED

I usually post a few catch reports, but the reality is that not only the weather has kept us on land, I also found out last week that my outboard is broken beyond economical repair.

This might be a blessing in disguise, because the constant overuse of my little boat and engine combined with not so meticulous maintenance started to worry me safety wise... mmmh

I already had planned to totally overhaul the boat in winter, but a meltdown of my Evinrude Etec`s EMM and a proposed repair bill of 1350£ has changed that plan!

In the last calendar year my 2009 Etec had more parts broken and repaired than any other motor in the civilised world:

-starter motor--led to drainage of batteries
-ignition coil--caused uneven idle and cutouts
-Fuel Injector--uneven idle and running
-Low oil alarm---did not out of oil one day
-starter switch buzzer--not a big problem
-throttle cable---could not go over idle speed
-neutral gear switch---did not start

looking at that list lets me shiver when I think of all the bills and just when it ran well again, on a day where I used the boat 16 nautical miles and out of nothing, it cuts out and never started again...had a lovely 4 miles trip in on the aux at 4 knots !!

Plan: Fish the rivers until a great bargain comes up some time over the winter.
Selling the outboard in parts (lots of demand, because they break a lot!), sell the trailer and the boat seperately

I think a Warrior/Predator with a nice Suzuki/Yamaha 4 stroke is the boat to have.

cheers until then

Sorry to hear about your engine issues, boats are an endless pit of money as all owners know....mind you have not missed much, east winds and now east winds with huge tides means no fishing for many if anyone this week.

If you can wait until august next year, I know of a very clean and well looked after Arvor 215AS with Red hull up for sale.

In Sunderland Marina any boat over 18ft is hard to finance, the mooring fees go up a lot.

A broken engine is never good news, but at least yours lasted to the end of the season and brought you home safely. Good luck with the search for a new boat.

It looks like there will be more than one to choose from at the Royal Quays soon enough.

sorry to hear about your engine Norbert, hope you get sorted soon, I will have to get mine out next spring and give it a good seeing to.
