Had a canny few hours down the Walkway this evening enjoying the spring sunshine. Got down there about half six to find the place pretty much deserted (just one other fishing) and got set up by the bin between the ramp and the steps. Fished two rods, one belted out to the channel and the other plopped over the side, 2 hook clipdown / flapper rigs, size 1/0 and 2 hooks and just Bluey out of the freezer for bait.

It was a lovely evening to be out

and the fish decided to play along too. First cast saw a nice Dab come out of the channel

and this was soon followed by a lovely looking little Flounder on the plopping rod

From then on it was a fish a chuck, often two at a time. A mixture of codling and coalies came from the channel rod

while the plopping rod saw none stop Coalies up to 30cm, which was a pain in a way as I was desperate to get a Rocking for the species hunt ;) All in all a cracking evenings fishing, nothing big or even sizeable but non-stop action with a final tally of 14 coalies, 6 codling, a Dab and a Flounder. Not bad for a spur of the moment grab bait from the freezer trip, and to top it all off it's the first time I've been able to fish this year without my thermal boots and floatie bottoms :D

It's crackers mate, I've been desperate to catch a Rockling for two months and not a sign of one. I must have developed some kind of Rockling repellant, must have something to do with species hunting I guess :p

Have a dangle over the side on the south east corner at the end of ssp. Loads of them there if you can get through the codlets. 3b and 5b.
