Rutherfords Angling - Sea Fishing Tackle / Sea Fishing Tackle Match Specialist - Sunderland, North East England

edited to add some list of rules etc

1. boundaries- south shields pier (including pier) to seaham north pier (excluding pier)river wear upto alexandra bridge

out of bounds- roker roundhead of roker pier ,end of old north pier,cormorants at the mouth of the north dock (thats me fkd ):D all of hendon docks ,the blocks at the end of hendon wall ,roundhead of south shields pier

2. pendulem casting is allowed unless deemed dangerous

3. all foul hooked fish count

4. no competitor may have fitted up at any one time more than one rod and reel ,2 hooks maximum ,treble hook to count as 2 hooks

5. this is a heaviest single fish competition ,strictly only one fish per angler.

6. one prize per person.

7. no limit on beads and seaquins

8. any angler found fishing before 1pm or after 5.00pm will be disqualified ( no excuses!)

9. all baits allowed

10. any angler seeing anything uptowards must report it to the competition officials before weigh-in is complete

11. the organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to any person for whatever reason

12. bag and car searches may be carried out ,before and during the competiton ( refusal to comply will result in disqualification)

13. any angler bringing undersize fish to the weigh-in will be disqualified

14. anyone found taking cars onto the clifftops at ryhope or marsden will be disqualified

15. the following fish are not eligible for weigh-in : Wrasse,Rays Bream,Shads,Mackerel,Eels,Herring,Dragonets,Blennies,Rockling,Lumpsuckers,Sea Scorpions.

16. minimum fish sizes- Rays 46cm across wing tip to wing tip,Bass 36cm,Cod,Coalfish,PollockHake,Brill,Turbot and Witches 35cm,s.

Flounders,Whiting,Plaice,Dabs,30cm .all other fish must not be less than 30cm long ( measured from nose to tip of tail).

17. no artifical lures or swim feeders are allowed .

18. junior anglers(under 16 years) must be accompanied by an adult.

19. competitors must obtain there entry tickets before the competition starts ,tickets will be available in advance from local tackle shops or at the Eastender Pub on the morning of the competition .

20. anglers must remove there litter and debris at the end of the competition .

21. competitors may recieve help from anyone to Gaff ,Drop net or lift there fish ,but must bait up,cast,hook and play fish themselves.

22. in the event of bad weather ,the committee shall make whatever arrangments they feel necassary.

23. in all matters without exception relating to this competition,the organising committee members decision will be final .

24. the committee will not be held responsible for anyone climbing over safety barriers on cliff tops ,Please fish Safely.

25. NO members of the organising committee shall be held responsible for any loss ,damage or injury however caused by any person taking part in this competition .

coming to the NE

coming to the NE

Coming over to NE this weekend to fish then heard about sunderland open. is it open to all or do you have to be in a seaangling club in the uk. I usual fish cumbrian coast and dumfries coast. But the NE is fishing well. Allso will their be any tackle shops open on the sun morning for a box of ragg ect.
 
as far as im aware you dont have to be in any club i think theres a few other lads travelling from other areas too what ive heard think fishing republic woodbine street sunderland is open till the afternoon on sundays also rutherfords angling is open Sun 9am-1pm

Can anybody clarify in advance what the situation with South Shields pier is. The advertisement states only "areas open to the public are fishable". Therefore my interpretation of this if the gates to South Shields pier are locked then it is not within bounds.
 
I'll be fishing it but where abouts is anybodys guess :p I dont fish comps but thought i might aswell this year just for the crack :D

if its locked cos work still going on there i carnt see it been in bounds we dont want another mix up like before happening needs clarifying first before the day of the comp sooner the better
