had a run accross to newbiggin to fish the promenade tonight and to try out my new rod (century carbon metal), got there about 5.30pm. it was a lovely evening not much of a sea on but i was only there for flatie sport and a few casts with new rod. i set up two rods and settled down for the evening. not a thing from time istarted fishing, not even a crab until 8.50pm ish, took some photos to ease boredom which i will try and post. anyway at about 8.50pm got a knock and brought in a small flattie ( returned) then baited up again and within secons of bait hitting water caught a small coalie. did the sme again and for the next hour caught coalie after coalie until i ran out of mackrel fillet all returned and all very small. lovely warm night and i caught fish allways a bonus.
tried to put phots up but deleted them by mistake

try it on an easterly or south easterly... middle steps using either lug or crab ...and watch out for the waves especially on a big tide

lol as your going into newbiggin follow the road all the way down before you get to the bank top club theres a zebra crossing turn right there ...park at the bottom in front of the steps ...down the steps and away you go try a pennel rig with just lug and a bit sea running fantastic I prefer to go early in the morning as it can get a bit busy there of an evening ya dont even need a rod stand which means ya hands are free to maybe carry another reel or a few cloths or owt else that ya couldn't squeeze into your tackle box mate lol

if you find the gulley and sit tight its spot on ,we fished just up from a bloke who had prime position and he was reeling in a codling every few minutes ,only 2 ways to land them either slide down or walk along to the steps and land the fish there,i normaly cheat and fish from around the back of the steps casting north
