First trip, first report of 2017
Norman initially said let’s meet up at 0600…I asked if could we bring it forward – sunrise is at 0620
Forecast was great – a chilly start but bright blue skies all the way….oh and a gentle westerly breeze that would mean the sea would be lovely and flat!
Wow – bang on the money as usual!
Hard ground was always going to be order of the day so North it was and toward a little white lighthouse with a yellow buoy not far off it…kind of a can shaped one
Bait was order of the day and after a little drifting about here and there we steadily started to pick the odd keeper up…to the point of being haversacked by a charter
that’s a compliment I guess
So thus it was, a few fish here - a few fish there…eventually with the pressure of catching well and truly abated and with the conditions so god damned perfect we just had to try a little further out…
Norm changed the battery on one of his plotters last year so he’s been re-plotting a few marks on and off since - this was a good chance to not only put Slinky through her paces at full tilt towards the horizon but to also mark off a few of the usual spots that had been lost. Needless to say the old gal performed flawlessly.
The fishing at 3 miles was as to be expected with the exception of an odd scotchie but the fact that the sun was out and we already had fish suppers made it all the more perfect…fingers crossed for days like this in the summer!!!
Great day and great company as ever – these two 9 to 5ers need days like this to recharge…and it makes Norman drool at the prospect of retirement all the more
Few pics:

Cheers to great start of 2017
