Posted a skate picture up on the jokes section and a couple of lads said they could fancy trying for big commons so here is some info for you.

Onyermarks Onyer Marks Sea Fishing Charters. Sea Angling For Tope And Pollack In The Irish Sea. take a couple of boats up to the Sound of Jura every year for a "skate bash".This year they are going 20 March till 22 April. The fish run up to 200lbs (my pb there is 182 lbs) Its catch and release only with all fish being tagged.

I have just been talking to Matty Burrett and he says that they have one Sunday vacant and a few midweekers. Ian Burrett deals with all the bookings so for further details/prices phone Ian direct on 01776840346.

Top tip - if you have not done this kind of thing before do a bit training in the gym first. Bringing up a large common in 400 feet of water is not for the faint hearted !!!!!

Hope some of you do get booked and looking forward to your reports and pictures

Its something that most shore lads tend to have a bash at sometime during their angling career.

Once took a male skate of 110 lb/400 foot/bareback - no buttpad/harness. It was not planned that way,its just that we had a double hook-up and the skipper got the butt pad and harness on first!!!! The hardest fish scrap of my angling career. Some of the GT,s in Australia were real battlers but this skate scrap gets the title

To the boat lads, check out the Crinnan boat launch. Its DODDLE AT HIGH WATER.
