the long sands is worth a try john possible be down your way friday going to try trow rock south side as it looks like all the sand has returned.
014.JPG last time down there it was just boulders ankle breakers winter storms taken all the sand away picture taken few weeks before the storms

I'm further down the coast fish from crimdon to Seaton carew and only lure fish nowadays that picture looks a nice bit of ground obviously with the lures things will pick up on the open coast when we start to get some bait fish in other wise little bit of surf running will see you better of with the bait if you try the lures later on id stick to metals and needles especially over the open sandy beaches and weedless soft plastics and shallow runners for the more snaggy ground don't be afraid to lure fish in darkness just slow everything down if you're ever down this way no problem pointing you in the right direction plenty schoolies around in the warmer months always the chance of that better fish as the season gets going

thank you for the offer but it was deep sea john that was asking about bass fishing, the area on the picture is a good mark for flatties never fished it last year as the heavy seas in the winter had removed all the sand just bare rock left round boulders hard to stand or even try to walk over more so hands full with a tackle box rods and rod stand.
over the years I have had some good sessions down there. picture shows the rest of the area to the right. can be very snaggy in places

when I first started sea fishing john some 57 years ago now ,I had to get the bus to newcastle then the train down to shields walk down from the station to the tackle shop then all the way along you say ladys bay . there is a table rock at the far end there used to be a big sewerage pipe there going full blast .I use to fish of that rock, now at high tide its always under water.
last time we tried trow rock gun implacement its was like a mud bath just slidding all over so we just went onto the long sands, couple more pics

possible the pipe was water from the mine workings at westoe, well never got out friday m8 text 1.30pm thursday afternoon to say he was not going, so rather than £12 for bait £6 to park then the fuel decided give it a miss.
next time I am just going myself possible ssp
