Shields 26/5/12 - Macky

Hello all,
Fished shields the day with goose1 and waco, kicked off at 10 and it was completely dead until low water, then a says to bob I think I got a knock, bit difficult to see at 30 paces but when i lifted the rod I was in -

First plaice of the year and not a bad one either.

Then 2 chucks later another canny knock and thought i was into another plaice but -

When I pulled it ower the wall bob says it's a dab, how he could tell from 30 paces baffles me like

Then another dab.

Here's a pic of the pier today, glorious sunshine, you could almost fall asleep in it -

There was loads of slime coming back on the line after reeling in so before we legged it at 4 I took the spider of the lead and gave it a big chuck just to clean the line that I'd only put on last night, then reeling in at about half way I got whacked by this on a bare hook -

There must have been about a hundred bashers on the end of the pier but I did the busy hehehe

So in summary, first plaice of the year, first macky, canny dab and a lovely day. All fish caught on crab, apart from the macky like

good report m8 and welldone on the spottys ,me n me pal done that last year ,we was hoying rigs out for scratching plaice and other species , worm tipped with small pieces of mackerel ,and was getting hit by double shots of mackerel ,whilst folk walking off the end saying they had been very little mackerel all day

Ya couldnt of picked a better day for it mate. I wish I coulda got out today even just to dig bait but I got roped into taking the kids the park for the day. Great report and pics as ever and hopefully ill get out for a few hrs spinnin in the morn

Am mate, 52, just don't realise it, but it won't stop me, I'm havin a sesh up coldingham next week and stopping at st vedas. Then I'm taking me grandson up alnmouth with wor lass and stopping there for a night, and then I'm off to jersey for a week with wor lass. If I can't fish I don't want to livehonest like james mate
