Seabait

Does anyone use Seabaits worms and if so are they as good as 'wild' ones. With the shortage of worms at the moment I've been looking at Seabaits website. They charge £3 for 75g but £12.34 for delivery :o. I sent them an email on Friday asking if you can collect from Ashington but they've yet to respond. When they do I'll let you know.

i used to use them when i used to go to i.d for my bait many moons ago and they were crap crap crap. not sure if the shops still sell them, billy's definately doesn't sell them cos his worms are too good quality to be seabait

i think the tackle shops in ashington sell them, and to say the least, they arent that good, and havnt caught much off them:(

il tell ya summat seabait ragworm was mint bait ,i wish i could get it now id use it all the time the lads i know swear by it also ,you used to put it on yer hook and juice used to squirt out of it it was ace and my best fish were on it ,the rag wat comes in pesat ect has no juice in it its just dry weve beenm on about it since seabait went off the scene wi the trouble they had .GIMME SEABAIT RAG anytime mate:)

not used it for a couple of years, when i have i fishes no diff than other rag, though every box i have had i have never had a bad worm, unlike some crap i have got from tackle shops

seabait was crackin stuff when it first came out but the quality went downhill, think the administrator was called in last year dunno if its still operating

I reckon you can still get it cos I bought some decent Seabait Ragworm at a wee tackle/bait shop in Berwick-upon-Tweed at the end of the summer - they were ok. Frasers Whitley and Billy's Shields usually, like - usually v good too.

The company was taken over and they have now put a massive factory shell round the breeding tanks so every thing is done indoors. Never tried the bait since it was taken over but they must be doin something right to afford all the alterations they have made to the old place.

I am thinking of poping down to Seabait this week to see if they still sell to the puplic like the old bait farm did, as the Rag i have been geting from Ashington Tackle Shop lately is proper RUBBISH. I will lets yous know.

No difference

No difference

I've used the seabait rag a few times over the years and it fished exactly the same as the "wild" bait, I caught nothing with either. :D

Try the tackle shop in Morpeth, not that far away from you. We sell rag from Dragon Baits in Wales, superb quality. Same supplier as Billys use

theres nothing wrong with sea bait its how the shop keeps it that matters . reelsport keeps his in fresh seawater and his worm is second to none.

Hadn't realised Dragon Baits is based in Port Talbot, weird thing is I couldn't find anywhere down there that sold bait each time we've been there - only tackle place I could find was a market stall.

Yes i use the tackle shop at Morpeth regular when i drop my wife of for work at m&s and have always had good quality Rag, just sat afternoon decided to get rag for Sunday morning so just poped local and it was crap.

when a fished lynemouth a lot a used buy 3 to 4 cartons of worms every week direct from the farm every week usally on a wednesday and used for tipping off luch gworm and kept exellent for the week and never had any complaints about it it cost £2.50 a box then, never used it for the last 4 years as not been back to lynemouth since they put all the rocks in ffront of coal heaps.

afew weeks ago a got given a box of worm off alex harvey and used it 2 weeks later and only lost 3 worm, the rest was in very good condition did'nt catch any biguns but caught plent of small stuff , so in my opinion sea bait worm is worth getting especially if you can still get it straight from the farm as it does catch fish

you used to be able to go and collect in person.

not sure about now.

try lewis tackle in whitley bay, i got some cracking rag worm from there the other week, they were dutch monsters and i still have them in the fridge alive and kicking, cover them in fresh sea water, just enough to cover them, change the water a few times a week, check them daily to remove any damaged or dead worms, they will last for weeks / months ;D
