Hi chaps,

Here's a couple of documents that we might find useful in the future:

Final report

The above is the awaited Sea Angling 2012, out today and attended by Loopy Les. Having read most of it, though only once, I can't see anything that isn't positive about us RSAs and it certainly highlights the contribution we make to fishing communities, local businesses and to keeping the country afloat, in general. A pat on the back to all of us who were able to put our views forward. I know that Northumberland got a specific mention.

These are the draft minutes to the EGM at NIFCA that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. We get a mention in the powerpoint presentation (on the website) and could I highlight point 6 - Dr Martin Kitching is, I believe, OUR fishing representative at the meetings (perhaps because no-one else applied???) - his first contribution is a peculiar one. Don't know if you get on NESA Doc, I'm sure as a sea angler yourself you would do. Could you enlighten us?

IFCA Membership

Good morning members.

Regarding this posting on NESA re: Martin Kitching where you say he is “I believe, OUR fishing representative at the meetings”.
There is some misunderstanding there ; IFCA membership comprises representatives from local authorities (councillors), 1 statutory appointee from each of the Environment Agency, Natural England and the MMO with the remaining members appointed by the MMO from backgrounds with relevance to fisheries and the marine environment.
Regarding MMO appointees of which Martin Kitching is one, the conditions for MMO appointees state that they “are legally required to represent all the local fishing and marine environmental issues in the waters of the IFCA district, in a balanced way… recognise that they are part of a committee and should not regard themselves as representing solely one particular interest… “
