Was reading about the pier, they have to take out and replace 50m of granite, affecting the deck and inspect 1600m of railing, the project manager said it would take at least 8 weeks of good weather to complete the work, so optimistically the Pier will re-open in October.

Bang goes the new gate unavailing before autumn.

Was talking to the council lads last wednesday they said the decking was finished and just the railings to repair, they reckon two weeks tops.

Try the ratty. To the right of roker pier next to big car park. Get there early as when pier closed it gets busy.
